Keeping Up With Oxy & Nonagenarians

I was very fortunate to be born to parents who love children. While this is perhaps not all that unusual, most, if not all, of us love children to some degree or another. What is perhaps more unusual about this particular set of parents is that they were inspired by that love to raise 21 children, 19 of whom were adopted from countries around the world.

They then followed that inspiration to create an organization that with the combined efforts of thousands of Canadians, provides loving care for 1,300 formerly destitute children in seven Children’s Homes in India and one each in Nepal, Tibet and Bangladesh.

At the ages of 88 and 93, they are quite a challenge to keep up with. In honour of Mother’s Day and all the wonderful mothers among us, I will focus mainly on my mother but her story intertwines with that of my father, so I will speak about them both.
