This Sunday is Father’s Day and the last service of the current service year. So I invite us on this last Sunday before our summer break to think of our origins. It has been said:
The best parts of your father are the best parts of you. Never forget where you came from.
In my generation, fathers, like mine, were sometimes partly occulted figures wrapped up in the business of being the family breadwinner. But whatever generation you are from, who your father was, and even who your grandfather was, has meant a great deal to the person you have become through your own life’s journey.
In our hurry to get somewhere, we must never forget where we come from.
