Clifford Lincoln writes: ” I am always struck by the immense power of the human spirit, and the capacity of each one of us to effect change for the better – or sadly for the worse.
Watching President Putin this week, as he delivered his frighteningly-negative decision about Ukraine, I could not help thinking about the immense good he could have done instead, by directing the billions in military hardware and preparations, towards the common good, and the welfare of his people.
I also thought of Russia, which I have visited on several occasions, and of a very special Russian individual who used the power of her indomitable human spirit towards the common good and the cause of the oppressed.
It was through an odd happening that I came to know her, as she barged into my MP’s office one morning, unannounced and uninvited, and made me aware of the story of a remarkable Swedish individual and hero, who literally change the world around him, by saving thousands of lives destined for obliteration.
It is the stories of these two remarkable individuals that I will highlight in my talk, to portray the special power of the human spirit, and how each of us can help bring about in our own way the world around us. ”
