JOIN US FOR A SPECIAL SATURDAY FILM SCREENING of “A Moonless Night” – a film about the Vietnamese Boat People – 40 Years Later
In collaboration with the Montreal Geography Teacher’s Association, we are delighted to welcome Thi Be Nguyen and Director\Producer Marie-Hélène Panisset to Lakeshore for a special showing of their 86-minute film, “A Moonless Night.”
Thi Be Nguyen will speak about her life and experiences as well. She arrived in Montréal in December 1979 from Laos as one of the 13 000 Vietnamese Boat People who fled that country after the US pulled out of the Vietnam War. She has been given the Prix Mosaïque Award for excellence in promoting diversity in the province of Québec.
Thi Be is a member of the Board of the Jeune Chambre de Commerce de Montréal, representing 13 different communities, and began a non-profit organization called Uni-Action that has culturally diverse people together to raise funds so people struggling with poverty have better access to health and education.
